Sandra Bain Cushman (sbc2013)
Sandra Bain Cushman's passion for unlocking creative potential began with her theater studies at Cornell University in 1977. A certified teacher of the Alexander Technique since 1990, she has taught renowned musicians, writers, theater groups, medical professionals, and business leaders how to gain greater poise, balance, and freedom in their work and in their lives.
Sandra is part of the Tuning the Air () support team, a location-based, not-for-profit performance company in Seattle, Washington. She is Co-Chair of the Membership Committee for the American Society for the Alexander Technique (), and has worked consistently with Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft (now Guitar Circle of Europe, Guitar Circle of Latin America, and Guitar Circles of North America) for the last ten years. She completed a two-year tenure as Co-Director of Training at the Alexander Technique Training Centre in Charlottesville, Virginia. In July of 2010, Sandra graduated from Jessica Wolf's "Art of Breathing" training and holds a certificate in teaching Breathing Coordination.
Sandra lives on a mountainside in Virginia with poet and professor, Stephen Cushman. She has two grown sons, both of whom are musicians.
