image #96 from the book; when they built the bakery in 1860, they used logs from very old houses, demolished along the years; those they cut length wise and nailed them as exterior load bearing walls; they would cut straight through imbedded wooden pegs, those used to 'hold' the big pieces together; here you see one imbedded digitally into an old french vase.
