During the many years I knew Brett Weston, Alaska always came up and we often had talks about making a future trip there together, but it never seemed to work out. Brett’s love of Alaska was contagious and in 1992 he gave me one of his Hawaii Portfolios to sell so I could make the trip, also giving me advice on what camera to take that would let me do the most work. In October of 1992 I made the trip to Alaska with my new love Sue Reynolds. We flew to Juneau and then took the ferry up and down the Inland Passage making several stops, flew over the glaciers to Anchorage, worked around the Kenai Peninsula and also drove north to Fairbanks passing thru Denali country. It was a great trip for me photographically that resulted in over 300 negatives out of which I picked ten for my Alaska Portfolio. The weather was cold but there were no mosquitos and we only had a couple of hours of rain during the whole trip. The days were normal in length and there were no tourists to contend with.
