The Issue of Accountability

Accountability is rarely understood as a productive force for architecture. Often used interchangeably with the notion of professional responsibility, the term is largely associated with the need to meet the demands of external forces. It is precisely for these reasons that FM finds accountability so alluring. With this issue, we discipline the term and, in doing so, propose possibilities for architecture to claim accountability for itself.
