A growing consensus of law enforcement records and academic studies indicate a rise in Latino gang activity in rural areas across the United States. Once solely the problem of big cities, Latino gangs are taking root in America’s countryside, finding fertile ground among its wide-open spaces, undermanned police forces, and disenfranchised youth. This project is sponsored by Blue Earth Alliance, a 501(c) 3 non-profit, which receives tax-deductible donations on its behalf. All images currently are from state of Washington, but the project now seeks to expand nationally, exposing the proliferation of gangs as a threat to rural communities throughout the United States.
