Divine Metaphysical Research

“Divine Metaphysical Research” examines the beauty and sadness of upstate New York through the lens of the built environment. Taken between 2017 and 2019, Harry Littell’s photographs suggest narratives but are open to interpretation. Subjects include architecture, businesses and industry, window displays, construction sites, and the people who inhabit this region. In these cultural landscapes Littell finds specific and collective examples of our history, aspirations, foibles, aesthetic choices, and struggles, all wrapped up in an endlessly fascinating mixture of materials. Author Ronald E. Ostman has written an afterword for the book.
