Tara Champion (tarachampion)
Champion Imagery is Tara Champion, a photographer who has been photographing for over 14 years crossing the bridge from analog photography to digital in the last five years. Tara has been lucky enough to photograph all around the world with extensive work done in Italy, Spain and the UK as while as all of the states in particular Alaska and Washington.
While Tara was studying photography she was also obtaining a degree in Biology focusing on animal behavior and marine biology. She has her name associated with a number of scientific research papers that she was fortunate enough to work on. She has most recently obtained her M.S. in Biological Photography and Imaging.
Tara has brought her love of photography and biology together as she has started work on conservation photography. She holds a strong interest in ornithology and has worked with museums such as the Burke Museum of Natural History, University of Alaska Fairbanks Museum of the North and many different bird ringing organizations around the world to create images that show the awe inspiring power behind birds.
Recently she was lucky enough to spend three months in Alaska photographing, writing and designing her own magazine based on different conservation efforts happening within the state.
Future project include (grants willing) returning to Alaska to document climate change and its effects on the native wildlife. As well as starting of a video project on urban farms, which will extend well into the next growing season.
Her eye for imagery and her mind for science make her an unique artist that proves one does not have to live solely in the right or left sides of their brain.
Tara’s home base is Seattle WA.
