Mr. Jerome Leaks (rydermagazine)
Jerome “Romeo” Leaks, was born April 5, 1977 at Harlem Hospital, New York, to Jerry Jerome Jackson and Rachelle Leaks. He was raised by his parents between the boroughs of the South Bronx, and South Side Jamaica, Queens, along with is sisters, Eileen and Letitia Leaks. His first inspiration for music came from his cousin, Benji “Transformer” Wiggins, who used to breakdance. After seeing the movie, “Krush Groove,” he was destined to be in the music industry. Jerome started his tenure in the music industry at an early age. By the age of 15 he helped organize, manage and participated in the popular Queens group, The Chosen Few All Boys Choir. Shortly after, he met Don C, a promoter with Bad Boy Entertainment, outside of the Gertz Mall, who put him to work with the Bad Boy Street Team. His industry success skyrocketed from there. In 1995, while working with the Bad Boy Street Team, he also worked in the Promotions and Photography Department for Fun City Photo, which was frequented by many artists like, Jay-Z, Lynch Mob, and Wu-Tang to name a few and would soon land a position on the Promotion Team of hip hop group, The Lost Boys. During a short internship for EPM (Everywhere Promotion and Marketing), in 1996, he strengthened his promotional skills, which led him to meet Shawn and Derrick Webster, CEO’s of independent record label, Teflon Muzik/Def Jam. He was later hired as Director of Promotions/Mix Show Director and worked on the Jinx Da Juvy, Ike Dirty and Slash Money projects. This is also where he inked his first distribution deal with FYE, in 2003 and spoke on panels to educate Independent Artists on the inner workings of the music industry. In 2007, he became Fashion Director for Hot 24 Seven Magazine. Later that year, he went to work for, RHN.TV (Real Hip HopNetwork) as Regional Vice President of Promotions for Greater New York. He was responsible for leading the Marketing and Promotion Creative Services Team, as well as planning and execution advertising initiatives for the company. Mr. Leaks then branched off to start his own company, JRL, in 2009, where he still books and manages models. In 2010 he collaborated with, Native Elianor and Terrell “Mocca” King to form, 4 Diamonds Productions, LLC., and produce major fashion shows and events on the East Coast, West Coast and abroad. During this time he joined forces with music mogul, Eric Kennedy, CEO of BRAAT Musik LLC, which is exclusively distributed by Warner Music Group. Jerome is formerly Vice President of A&R, New York Division for Braat Musik/WEA, currently the President of Talent and Entertainment for 4 Diamonds Productions, and the Publisher/founder Ryder Magazine
