Carol Alexander-Lewis Founder and Publisher: Modern Parents Magazine
Since 2005, Carol Alexander-Lewis has served as the publisher of Modern Parents Magazine (). During this time, she has interviewed Barack Obama, Gayle King of O (Oprah magazine), Donna “DKNY” Karan, Suzy Ormon, Geoffrey Canada, Dr. Joyce Epstein of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Richard Elmore and several other professors from Harvard University, members of the United States Congress, countless local politicians and notable educators. Carol works tirelessly to promote ideals and strategies to improve the quality of education for every child, garnering support from educators throughout the nation. In this regard, Carol recently visited the Harvard Graduate School of Education to interview several renowned educators for publication in upcoming editions of Modern Parents Magazine. As a result of the work with Harvard University and other important work in the field, Modern Parents Magazine has been selected as a partner by the United States Department of Education. As a result, Modern Parents Magazine has a direct lifeline to the U. S. Department of Education. This partnership positions New Orleans as a point of interest and ongoing support from the Department. Carol also serves as executive director of the National Family Development Institute. She has served as program director for state and federal innovative programs and mentorship grants. She has conducted numerous workshops and in-services on parenting and parental involvement.
[Carol received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Dillard University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Xavier University and is projected to earn a Doctorate of Education in K-12 Education Leadership in 2012.]
