Gary Clark (Mashuga)
Biography: Gary F. Clark is a retired Professor of Art from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania where he taught studio arts over thirty years. He retired from university teaching and now engages in photography full time. Professor Clark holds a B.F.A. degree in Graphic Design, from Maryland Institute College of Art, as well as an M.A. in Sculpture from West Virginia University. He has also attended Penn State University, The Philadelphia College of Art, and Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Professor Clark is an award-winning artist who has exhibited his work in numerous exhibitions in the United States, Canada and Europe. His work was also showcased in a solo exhibition at the United States Senate, Russell Rotunda in Washington, D.C. His work has been published in a wide variety of publications. Professor Clark has given numerous presentations related to his photographic work on the subject of homelessness, and more recently on the Old Order Amish and Mennonites. His work encompasses artistic, social, biographical and activist elements of this subject. He has presented his work and it’s message to the Global Awareness Society in Seoul, Korea and the Democracy Project National Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He latest work will be presented in a series of exhibitions including The Multi-Cultural Center at Bloomsburg University in November of 2013 followed by another exhibition in the State Capitol in March of 2014. The exhibition of photographs is titled “Plain, The Old Order Amish and Mennonites of the Central Susquehanna River Valley, A Photo Essay.” This work has been presented as a slide lecture at the Global Awareness Society in New York City, and has been presented locally at Senior Centers, Nursing Homes and libraries throughout central Pennsylvania. A book is in currently in production.
