Mildred Alpern (Mananee)
A NYC Upper Westsider, born in Boston, Massachusetts, a graduate of Girls’ Latin School, Boston University summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and Columbia University Teachers College. A former teacher of modern European History and a consultant for the College Board’s Advanced Placement Program, publishing articles and student guides. Currently, an avid, self-taught photographer, upgrading from point and shoot, to interchangeable lenses. Photography themes include natural landscapes and peopled cityscapes mainly in New York City and upstate. A regular contributor to Mirrorless Photo Tips, an online blog about the real-world experience of using mirrorless cameras. Photos have been selected for juried exhibitions at Photoplace Gallery and Dark Room Gallery in Vermont and the 1650 Gallery in California, as well as the New York Times Metropolitan Diary.
