Hailing from the gritty back streets of Bad Newz, in southeast VA, Joe Rugby is no stranger to struggle. Being the oldest of 6 kids he learned the power of a dollar and a dream.
Getting his start as a promoter for other artists in the mid 90's gave Joe the chance to see the music business from the inside out. Eventually he decided to step from behind the scenes and take his chances on the mic.
T...aking his music to the streets, Joe formed an independent label called BNC, short for Bad Newz Connection along with child hood friends DMG$, Ace, and J Bean. With heavy promotion and a region wide buzz the Almighty BNC went on to sign a 5 album deal with Koch records. Eventually the deal fell through before the debut album could be released but their love of music never wavered.
Over the next 6 years Joe pursued other interests in the realms of TV, radio and magazine publishing. Beginning with Exclusive magazine he set out to expose the hottest acts in music. He launched The Fixxx on Fox 43, a weekly music program dedicated to bringing out the best new artists, interviews and videos from major and indie artists. With no initial advertising the show had a 900% boost in its nielsen ratings and went on to dominate its time slot. Last but not least Joe jumped on the Airwaves of Old Dominion university with co host 1st Lady for their daily music program called "The Block", which featured exclusive new music and surprise interviews.
Now after tackling the realms of TV, radio and print he returns to his roots as an artist. With a new sound and approach get ready for the VA sound you have yet to here
