With the economy teetering on the brink of financial ruin and the national terrorist alert set at a permanent shade of swine flu, LitUp Writers celebrates the power of laughter to help us cope with the uncertainties and absurdities of modern life. Founded in August 2009, LitUp Writers is a San Francisco based quarterly humor reading series.

Issue 1 celebrates the first two years of LitUp, showcasing 11 of our favorite, humorous first-person essays, spanning a wide range of topics from travel to romance to food to family to reinvention.
