California Reds are a recently developed breed that was not supposed to grow a nice fleece, although it does. The intention was to produce an animal that didn't need to be shorn, was larger than one of the contributing breeds (the Barbados Blackbelly), with strong disease and pest resistance. The Barbados was crossed with American Tunis, and the desire not to have wool... failed. It's nice stuff. The breed is both established and in process, because efforts have been underway to broaden the gene pool.

Printed document plus free digital version; 8x8" publication. This document contains theory and practical knowledge for fiber arts enthusiasts of all skill levels. The handouts are heavily illustrated.
