I wanted to capture each person in their element; in places they normally spend time. In some cases this was their home, places they work, or a place of significance to them. I wanted it to be natural, so I spent only 15-20 minutes with each person with little, or no, prior planning. All of it happening so quickly, I hardly had time to process what had just taken place. I had an overwhelming feeling of excitement. An indescribable eagerness to review the moments I had just captured. There was such an array of stimulating visuals, from marionettes, wolf skins and teeth, to dirt bikes, animal companions, and beautiful landscapes. Giving myself such a short amount of time in each setting, created a spontaneity, adding to my excitement. I also asked each person for a favorite quote, or small piece of writing that they identify with, to go with the set of photos I took. The final product shows a part of them that they’ve given to me, as well as the images that I’ve taken of them, from their daily lives.
