This poem had been been inspired by some of the more egregious cases of violence and degradation against women, such as the Boko Haram kidnappings, the reality of child brides, and a lack of rights and resources for women internationally, and especially in the developing world.

However, instead of solely lamenting these issues, this attempts to empower them, asking them to remember their place in the world and the rights they inherently hold as human beings, as without them and the qualities women possess, the world does not have the balance necessary for humanity to survive, nor would humanity even exist. Remembering this and awakening with this power is necessary for the world to regain balance and have a chance for peace.

All proceeds go toward media and organizations dedicated to women's empowerment, education, and rights, especially in developing countries.
