Speed Demon Warmup

The Speed Demon Warmup is knitting pattern for a trim fitting men’s raglan sleeve zip cardigan inspired by vintage athletic wear. The sweater is primarily worked in stockinette stitch, however, contrasting color slip stitch rib “racing stripes” on the sleeves, and seed stitch panels keep it interesting. Worked bottom up, each piece begins with a provisional cast on and knit-in hem. The body and sleeves are each worked separately, side to side on a circular needle, then joined at the underarm and worked together for the raglan yoke. Short rows shape the neckline and the stand-up collar is finished with a sewn hem. Stitches are picked up along the front edges for a zipper band with an optional double knit contrasting color inside facing.
