The Black Dog Series is a portfolio of photographs based on my experiences with mental depression. This sounds a bit grim, but the work that came as a result of it is rather beautiful.
After I was diagnosed with depression, I went back and examined my photography over the last few years: much of it was distorted, blurry, and devoid of people. It seemed that I hadn't been photographing nature quite as much as I was photographing my own heart. While the work appears quite colorful and happy, there's an underlying loneliness I was only able to see in hindsight.
