The Hudson Valley has been known for hundreds of UFO sightings since the 1980's. At first this phenomenon was kept quiet until more and more people realized they were not alone in their experiences. As word spread, UFO researchers created hotlines to keep track of these sightings and had received up to 300 callers on a single night. Today, the town of Pine Bush is recognized as the "hot spot" for UFO activity. The small town of only 1,539 residents is known as the UFO Capitol of New York. A walk down its short main street will provide a visitor with an array of alien attractions such as a UFO statue outside the Pine Bush Historical Society and the UFO themed diner, Cups and Saucers. Every spring the town has an annual UFO Festival where residents parade down the street dressed as cosmic beings. "The Skywatchers" focuses on a Pine Bush barber named Butch Hunt inside his shop with his collection of stories and knowledge about the alien phenomenon.
