Yu Juanjuan was born in Beijing, China, in 1958. In 1987 she left on a twenty-two month bike journey around the border of China. She was the leader of a group of five bicyclists. It took her two years to travel over 40,000 kilometers, (25,000 miles) to complete this trip, the distance being equivalent to the circumference of the earth. Juanjuan moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1997. She lives with her husband, Phil Wegener, and has been teaching Chinese language and culture to children and adults privately for fifteen years. She enjoys biking, skiing, river running, and traveling. This is her first book.
