Published to coincide with an exhibition at Saltaire Arts Trail, Interwoven brings together photographic works that explore the connections between photography, textiles and the past. With a focus on women’s histories and the North of England, the selected works consider the social and economic roles that textiles have played, and suggest that both cloth and photographs are forever embedded with the physical traces of their subject and the past. The accompanying essay by curator Pippa Oldfield discusses images by Ruth Beazley, Kathryn Bethel, Liza Dracup, Jessa Fairbrother, and Kelly Gardner, some of which are published here for the first time.
