The 2023 New England Journal of Photographic History (Issue #181) celebrates the Photographic Historical Society of New England’s 50th Anniversary. Laced with interesting historical information and numerous photographs, the 2023 Journal is an historical record of one of the most successful regional photographic historical organizations in the United States. Formed in 1973, PHSNE became the 17th regional photographic historical society in North America. It remains one of the few that has not only survived but flourished over the years. The 2023 Journal tells the story of the formation of PHSNE and the various components that have kept the organization thriving over the past 5 decades: photographic shows, guest speakers, publications, field trips, and individuals. Published by the Photographic Historical Society of New England (phsne.org), it contains 56 pages with access to an additional 112 online pages of supplemental information that further details PHSNE’s rich history.
