Before Mickey Mouse was created, Disney worked with a young girl named Virginia Davis who portrayed Alice and in her dreams would interact with various cartoonland characters. Although this short was released in April, it's technically Disney's first animated short dealing with ghosts and thus suitable for Halloween.
