Dek Unu Magazine-Chinmoy Biswas

For this series, working in his own back yard, Bengali artist-photographer Chinmoy Biswas concentrates on the familiar: kids playing, laborers at work, a subsistence fisherman casting a net. His characters are quotidian, universal, often rendered in silhouette, often small in the midst of a wide landscape that he calls the “rural canvas.” In atmospheric black-and-white, he places his everyday scenes in a creatively-seen and carefullycrafted frame. A scene of which there might be hundreds of phone-photographed snapshots becomes, as interpreted by this artist, something entirely different. Enjoy Chinmoy’s “story of the rural people.”
