It is unclear when or from where Herdwicks arrived in the landscape to which they are exquisitely adapted, in northwestern England. Their fleeces mix wool, hair, and kemp--the components of tweed fabrics and carpets, and not normally considered for hand processing or use. But they can be surprisingly fun to work with and stretch our creative muscles to think of applications! Lots here about their champion, Beatrix Potter.

Printed document plus free digital version; 8x8" publication. This document contains theory and practical knowledge for fiber arts enthusiasts of all skill levels. The handouts are heavily illustrated.
