The sequence of watercolors developed out of the pandemic during the moment everyone was isolating at home. The stillness created new observations of the landscape, creating a feeling of darkness, loss and a time of adjustments.

The indigo pigment was pure in its organic quality to create the monochromatic tones. The richness of the pigment captured the anxiety of so many thoughts. The paintings would start with a base wash as it dried in unforeseeable ways, guiding the direction of the work. Each piece varying into a linear abstract style to almost a literal abstract direction. Out of about 150 paintings, 48 were selected for the book. The process was always incalculable.

The process was extremely rewarding.
