Beautiful Over 40 | Winter 2022 Issue

Beautiful Over 40 was created by Candace Perry of Beautiful You Studios. Growing up, she was made fun of for her skinny legs, buck teeth, & four eyes. She wasn’t asked on a date until she was 26 & as a result, didn’t feel pretty until she had a professional makeover & photo shoot in later years.

In 2021 she turned 40, still not married & suddenly being told by potential suitors that she no longer had value due to her age. It felt a little like her painful past rearing up all over again. As she reflected upon her life in that moment, she remembered a time she’d been proud of herself, the first time her work was published in a magazine over 10 years ago.

Realizing that the aging process may be difficult for many women & not just herself, she decided to create this collection to show the world that women over 40 are beautiful, too.
