“The Mother Road: Revisited” consists of 10-15 photographs taken in the 1950’s combined with photographs from modern day Rt . 66. The original photographs and their copyrights were given to me from the Tulsa Library for usage on this project. The Mother Road: Revisited biggest hurdle is finding the exact location each 1950 photograph was taken. After the location is realized and the new photograph has been made the real magic begins. Both images are put into an editing program and combined to arrive at the end result which is one image showing the new parts and vintage parts of the road. This usually involves vintage signs converted from information about hotels, to information about a shopping center, or a swimming pool that was once overcome with Rt.66 guests, to a grass covered hole. This project is an effort to show what America has done to its once booming American symbol, “The Mother Road.”
