Greed (Gujarati Dadavani February-2001)

We have been wandering in this world since times infinite because we have the greed to experience happiness from something or the other. Real happiness is in ‘Self’ but one often has doubt that if I leave worldly happiness, all my happiness will disappear. But worldly happiness is temporary; if one leaves this worldly happiness then only he/she can taste the permanent happiness of Self. But greed does not let one understand this. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan explains greediness by giving example of a dog. He says that if we show just 1 biscuit to a dog then in the greed to eat he will forget his family, his place and ultimately end up wandering. But these traits of animal should not be there in humans or else what will be the difference between animals and humans? To have the greed to be worshiped by others is the worst kind of greed.
