The first prototype of this design, with its large swaths of green in several different shades reminded me of rolling Irish hills. Thus, the name Taryn, which by some accounts means “hills of Ireland,” seemed like the perfect name.

The Taryn Shawl knitting pattern features a highly-textured worsted weight design in four colors, each of which has its own stitch pattern: Garter, Alternating Welted Leaf, Irish Moss, and Stockinette. Written directions and stitch charts are provided for the more complicated patterns.

Knit in worsted or aran weight yarn, the Taryn shawl provides warmth and squishy texture without being too bulky.
