1898/1948 Churubusco, Indiana
The first mention of the beast was in 1898 when local farmer Oscar Fulk claimed to have seen it in the lake on his farm. The creature wasn’t spotted again until 1948 when two men encountered it while fishing on the same lake. After more sightings and several well-publicized but unsuccessful attempts to find the creature, public interest waned somewhat. But over the years the rumors have persisted. Was there a giant snapping turtle living around the community of Churubusco, Indiana?
