The photographs in this catalog contain a sample of images from the series "Scene from the Sidewalk", photographs by Russell B. Phillips. They are part of an archive of work found in two documentary projects: “Changing Chicago” and “Chicago In The Year 2000, CITY 2000”.

"The title “Scene From the Sidewalk” evolved through the process of capturing these images. In all cases the camera is on a tripod at the ready for the scene to be set by the right movement of pedestrians, cars, or quality of light. Images from these projects are part of the permanent collection at the Chicago History Museum and the Daley Library at the University of Illinois, Chicago."
