I use everyday objects such as the hair dryer, vinyl record, and various domestic objects to recall America’s lengthy and complex history through the construct of black womanhood. Each body of work systematically combines social experiences with personal memories to create a standpoint outside of dominant narratives. Doing such demonstrates the manner in which photograph can create new meanings through the process of assembling preexisting information and visual material.
