On a wonderfully surprisingly hot summer day in May, we thought a drive to the shore for some cooling off sounded like a good idea. We headed to Massachusetts south shore. - through Quincy, Weymouth, Hull, ...Nantasket!
The thought of Nantasket Beach brought back childhood memories of visits to Paragon Park, an old amusement park, where my aunts and their friends took us as children. I was on a mission - find the park and see what remnants were left of the amusements!
The drive took us through historic New England towns full of wonderful visuals... we stopped to take these photos along the way.
With little effort we entered Nantasket and saw a “Paragon Park” plaque. We found the only remaining ride - the carousel. A majestic classic construction with flying horse and chariots... as impressive today as it was when I was 8 years old in the 50’s.
Thank you auntie Helen, auntie Evie and the Finamore sisters for our trip today and for those many unforgettable times 50 years ago.
