As a child, one begins with a gentle unblemished innocence and a trust in the universe.

While exploring the topic of stolen youth, darker emotions and memories can be discovered in lightness and ethereality, giving true meaning beyond what is seen solely on the surface. As spring surrounds us, one’s innocence is symbolized by the small blue flowers carried throughout the journey in my story, their fragile petals drifting off along the way. These tiny petals represent each moment in one’s life that gradually and inevitably leads to this loss. At the end of the journey, the remaining petals and what is left of the flowers are cast into the river, representing the final moment in which one has finally lost the last of their innocence.
