This monograph is a collection of photographs created by Middle School students at Cesar Chavez Academy in East Palo Alto, California. The students participated in a 10 week apprenticeship called "The Power of Photography: Creating Images that Matter" in the fall of 2012. The experience was taught by "Citizen Teachers", volunteers from the community who shared their passion and expertise in photography.

The "Power of Photography" is one of several experiences made possible by the non-profit organization Citizen Schools (www.citizenschools.org). Net proceeds from the sale of this publication go to support future Citizen Schools apprenticeships at schools serving disadvantaged students.
